Students’s Scientific Attitude and Science Literacy Using the Nature of Science (NoS) Learning Model Assisted by Online E-Book on Inheritance Material in 9th Grade Students of MTs Muslimat NU Palangka Raya

ABSTRACT

This research is based on the learning condition in 9th grade students of MTs Muslimat NU Palangka Raya which still use conventional learning method that haven’t been able to develop the science literacy skill and scientific attitude. This study aims to determine the science literacy, scientific attitude, correlation between the science literacy and scientific attitude of students using NoS model which assisted by online e-book, describe the application of the NoS model assisted by online e-book, and the effect of applying the NoS model assisted by online e-book to the science literacy and scientific attitude on 9th grade students of MTs Muslimat NU Palangka Raya on inheritance material.

This study used descriptive quantitative approach with Nonequivalent Control Group Research Design that involved the experimental group and the control group. The science literacy datas in this study were took from the result of test, questionnaire, and interview. While scientific attitude datas were took from the result of observation, questionnaire, and interview.

The results showed that: (1) Student’s science literacy was 64.51% and it showed as high category while the students’s scientific attitude was 73.77% and it showed as good category in 9th grade students of MTs Muslimat NU Palangka Raya, (2) The correlation between science literacy and scientific attitude on 9th grade students of Muslimat NU Palangka Raya in the inheritance material in the implementation of NoS model showed the value of r = 0.328, (3) The average score from the application of the NoS model assisted by online e-book in the inheritance material was 100% and showed as very good category, (4) There were effects from the implementation of NoS model assisted by online e-book on science literacy and scientific attitude in 9th grade students of Muslimat NU Palangka Raya on inheritance material with the value of tcount> ttable were  5.147>1.665 and 6.222>1,746.
