ABSTRACT

Based on observations data showed that the teaching and learning process in MTs Darussalam teachersare stillusingconventionalmethods teachers never encourage students to experiment so that students MTs Darussalam said that the boring biology lesson. This studyaims to determinestudent interest, students’ science process skills and the effect of student interest in biotechnology material using BioEntrepreneurship approach (BEP) based experiments. This research has been done in class IX MTs Darussalam Chess Kapuas work totaling 50 people. The technique that was used in the collection of the sample in this study was purposive sampling.

This study used a quantitative approach and the type of research is quasi-experimental. Collecting the data, this study uses several techniques, namely: Test, questionnaire, interview and documentation. The techniques that were used to analyze the data the authors use several formulas, among others: Rating scale used to measure the interest and skills, Product moment is used to determine the effect of the interest in learning the science process skills, and N-Gain is used to measure the learning outcomes.

The findings of this study are: Value of the overall students’ interest in the category amounted to 69% interest and science skill process amounted to 78.12% with the successful category. The effect of students’ interest in learning science process skills by using the approach of Bio-Entrepreneurship (BEP) experiments based biotechnology material in class IX in the first semester of Islamic junior high school Darussalam Kapuas. For the learning outcomes of students’ grade control using traditional and experimental learning approach based BEP experiments showed differences mean value, Pretest values in the control class is 37.87 while the experimental class was 35.87. Furthermore, seen from the increase in the value of the learning outcomes of students’ learning posttest, the score on the experimental class was 75.73 while the control class is 67.73.
