ABSTRACT

This study aims to determine (1) the management of teaching physics using problem-based learning model, (2) motivation of students before and after using problem-based learning model, (3) cognitive and psychomotoric learning achievement before and after using problem-based learning model (4) students motivation towards the learning achievement using problem-based learning model.

This study uses a pre-experimental with pretest-posttest control design, the sample is X grade of MA Miftahul Jannah Palangkaraya This study is conducted at MA Miftahul Jannah Palangkaraya from September to October 2016. the data instrument used are learning management sheet, motivation questionnaire sheet, achievement test sheet.

The results showed that: (1) management teaching physics using problem-based learning model with the average score of 3.46 is in medium category, (2) the student’s motivation before using problem-based learning model with the average of 33.5 and after using problem-based learning model with the average of 34.4 is in high category, (3) students cognitive achievement before using problem-based learning model with the average of 41 failed after using problem-based learning model with the average of 56 failed, (4) the students psychomotoric achievement using problem-based learning model with the average of 75 succeeded. The correlation of motivation and the students achievement is very poor.
